While I'm sensitive to this issue as well (notice I used the word
"attackers" in my talk description rather than cracker or hacker),
arguing about current usage of the word "hacker" is the lost cause
of all lost causes.  The media and lay public have escorted this
particular dead horse well out of the barn and many furlongs
down the road before now.  By all means be conscientious in your
own usage, but don't expect to change how the vast majority of people
in the world use the term.
