[Eug-lug] Gnuing on OSX

my experience with DarwinPorts was initially good, up until i started
trying to use it to do
things like install current versions of libxml2 and pythons other than
the system python.

It's clean relatively fast, but it's not as strong on dependency
checking and giving you information you need, like where it installed
certain packages and what it deleted (or didn't) while upgrading a
package, as it could be.

currently I've been dicking around with the Python Package manager for OSX
and building a PIL installation that includes jpeg support.

I'd like to see if I can get access to the system jpeg support through
PyOBJC, as that would (I hope) be faster and easier to draw to the
screen.
