[Eug-lug] environment in Debian

Now when I login to Debian using the gdm graphic login it
no longer reads my ~/.bash_profile.  This happens whether
I login under KDE or Gnome.  Logging in directly to a
virtual console works correctly.  Any clues as to where
to look?
