  Steve Hiebert, an Expert Software Designer at Hewlett-Packard, will
  speak on the subject of XML and related technologies.  Steve has been an
  R&D engineer with HP for the past 22 years.  His original expertise is
  in the area of computer language design and compiler implementation and
  he has been applying that expertise to the area of markup languages
  since 1991.

  Steve will talk on the basics of XML, the tools used to manipulate XML
  and best practices in their use.  Topics will include an overview of the
  grammar and syntax provided by XML and the use of XML for document
  definition and data modeling.  Related W3C Recommendations such as XSLT
  (an XML to XML transformation language) and namespaces in XML will be
  covered.  He will also discuss processing XML in both streaming (SAX)
  and tree (DOM) mode.
