In /proc/bus/usb/devices, I see a "SerialNumber" attribute.  My USB
Maxtor's serial number is Y625M91E.  I only have one disk, so I don't
know whether that's unique.  (One would hope so...)

If not, you could uniquely identify disks with volume labels or if
you're using LVM, each PV has a globally unique ID.

Let us know what you find out.
