I went to Portland yesterday. (IKEA, wheee!) Today I spent most of
the day on this book. I did all the exercises through chapter 6,
Assembler. So I actually "built" a "CPU" from "chips".
The book spoon feeds you the design so it wasn't really like designing
a CPU, and the systems are as simplistic as imaginable, but it was a
lot of fun nonetheless.
I highly recommend this course for self-study.
Since all the apps are on-line, and since every exercise has a
verification test, it's easy to know whether you're doing the
exercises right.
