[Eug-lug] Comcast testing a new approach to throttling use

I'd like to know what speeds you're getting if you're complaining it isn't high speed. Any speed issue I typically have comes from the other end not having the bandwidth THEY need. Downloading drivers from Asus and Realtek often never sees 40k while Intel and HP are often having files done faster than I can hit the save button! My "limit" seems to average just under 1000k for fast servers and that is sustained for even large files in excess of 1GB.

Comcast has needed a tiered system because $30 a month is enough to get people off their dreaded dial-up and get rid of their flippin' AOL and Juno accounts. What they also need is to have the modems do NAT by default with the option to turn it off. It would help reduce malware at least a smidgen. At $60 a month though it should remain "unlimited" bandwidth with some daily throttling only if users are truly being "excessive".

That be all,
Mr O.
