I know I've talked to some of you about this at the meetings, but my
Neighborhood Association along with Invitrogen is sponsoring a CERT
training course this month.

CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team and is sort of a hybrid
of the old Civil Defense program with the modern First Responder concept.

As with most volunteer commitments, we've had a few dropouts, which leaves
us with a few open places in the classes. This is your opportunity to jump
the multi-month waiting list and join a class _now_.

CERT training is a great way to help your family, help your neighbors, and
help your community in the event of a natural disaster, terrorist attack,
or other emergency.
You'll learn Disaster Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical Operations, and
Light Search and Rescue, among other skills. You'll also take part in a
mock Disaster.

The kicker is, that this class has already started, however, you've only
missed the introductory portion, which can easily be made up in a special
session.
Classes are at night Tues/Thurs for the next 4 weeks, plus a half day on
Sat. Oct 6.
There is no commitment after the classes, you need not volunteer as a CERT
unless you choose to do so.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in this class, please contact
me at this email address, or call me at 335-3741(days) or
343-0021(nights).
I do need to know as soon as possible, so please don't delay if you would
like to join.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

thanks,
-alan
