[Eug-lug] OT: what fun stuff to do is there in Portland

I'll third the Japanese Gardens - my wife and I just went there on
Saturday - gorgeous this time of year with all the leaves changing
color. Other places I have to take my out of town friends that are geeky
enough: FreeGeek in SE, just off Hawthorne, Ground Kontrol (classic
arcade + bar - tons of old arcade games that have new CRTs and whatnot),
and of course, Powell's. The Bagdad is another must if your friend
enjoys beer - drinking microbrews in a theater is one of the unique
things about Portland. I also like to take people to Kennedy School -
another McMenimins, it's an old elementary school converted into a
Restaurant/Bar/Movie Theater. Very interesting.

I'll second the Japanese Gardens, hike up Mt. Tabor, Bishop's
Close is also cool, and Bike's over the Bridges is good for a Bostonian.
Let me know if he drinks beer or not!

Hello all,
This is off topic, but I'm wondering if any of you could
give
suggestions as to fun stuff to do in Portland. An old
friend from
Utah contacted me, and he's going to be in Portland this
weekend and
maybe the next.
He attends grad school at MIT. I haven't seen him in a
long time and
I'm not sure what he likes to do. I should probably
have asked that
first.
At any rate, I'll let him know about the Slashdot party
happening next week :)
