tried that command and got this : alanwall at alanwall-desktop:~$ sudo rmmod
snd_emu10k1
ERROR: Module snd_emu10k1 is in use by snd_emu10k1_synth
so assume it thinks I am using a synthesizer ? or because I created the
alsa file ?

was the second place I tried and it is set to creative/alsa
will reboot and see if that alsa file did the trick
