Darn, Quentin outed me.  I was hoping to lurk on the thread and get
people's honest opinions on the magazine.  For those who don't know,
I'm the Technical Editor for Sys Admin (which means I review all the
proposals and manuscripts for technical accuracy).

Anyway, Sys Admin is as useful a magazine as I and the rest of the CMP
staff can possibly make it.  We typically run around 8 technical
articles per issue on a variety of topics.  Issues have a "theme"--
March is Backups, April is Clustering, May is Databases, etc-- with
3-4 articles following the theme and the rest being on other random
topics.  We also have regular columnists like Amy Rich's Q&A, Randal
Schwartz on Perl, Schaefer and Spurgeon on Shell Scripting, and Peter
Galvin on Solaris-related topics.

Note that the magazine is entirely focused on Unix/Linux platforms--
no Windows at all.  Some people like that, some don't.  I can probably
guess how most folks on this mailing list feel about that...

Btw, the CD-ROM they're offering not only has the last 10 years of
Sys Admin content but also contains the archives of CMP's Perl Journal
publication.  It's got a nice little searchable index.  I find the
CD very useful.
