First, make sure you have mod_perl -- you can find this in Apache's
signature, if that is turned on (you can always check your packages, but it
does need to be turned on in the apache2 config also).... maybe checking the
file list for your apache package would help you find your apache config,
log files, etc :)
Also, did you find a cgi-bin/ folder where perl might be already setup to be
run? Other directories likely have to be configured to run the perl scripts
instead of displaying them.
In short, if you have mod_perl installed, it is an apache config issue. If
you're having trouble with apache config, you might find a GUI config tool
more helpful (I've setup webmin for folks before, with good results, I'd
suggest having it only served locally though, or at least only on SSL).
