[Eug-lug] Fedora 6 - Open Office test file weirdness

Open Office Fedora 6  text file weirdness.  I run Fedora 6 on a laptop.

The Open Office 2.x files I save to the desktop are always snapped into 
Java icons a minute after I save them.

I set "open with" to Word Processor, and they open in Open Office,... 
their icon is Open Office.
...then their icon changes into a cup of coffee and we're back to 
changing their properties again!

Why this reflex behavior?
