[Eug-lug] Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy not ready for prime time

I just installed Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu 7.10 Gutsy.  There are problems.
Under KDE all three terminal programs listed in the menus crash immediately.
(konsole, xfce4-terminal, gnome-terminal)  I didn't try xterm because
I couldn't find it on the menus.

Also under KDE thunderbird crashes immediately.  These problems make
KDE unusable for me.

Under gnome xfce4-terminal and gnome-terminal crash immediately.
konsole functions.

I haven't tried xfce4 yet.  In the past I have discounted it because
of the challenge of watching DVDs on it.  I never figured out how.
Whereas under KDE and gnome it was straightforward.
