This bug report[1] implies that you might be able to access the m305
as a "USB PTP Class Camera".  Try something like this.

    $ gphoto2 -L --camera="USB PTP Class Camera" --port=usb:###,###

(where ###,### is the USB port, as shown by lsusb)
