You own the house.  Run Cat-5.

Seriously, wireless in our house has been nothing but trouble (where
"nothing but trouble" means 2-4 troubleshooting sessions a year).  The
Cat-5 I ran in 2001 (28 lines to 7 locations) has never hiccoughed.
