Some of the features, like the wifi, would be nice if they were
implemented properly. Rockbox doesn't list the Toshiba Gigabeat as
being compatible yet though, but it would be interesting to see what
the hardware could do if the crippleware on it was replaced by Linux.
On another note, I found this particularly infuriating:
"These devices are just repositories for stolen music, and they all
know it," said Doug Morris, CEO of Universal Music Group. "So it's
time to get paid for it."
We have 3 iPods in our house (yes, more iPods than people) and none of
them contain any pirated materials. If the music industry is able to
strongarm Apple into putting this tax on their players I won't be
buying any more of them. I see no reason to pay money to be treated
like a criminal.
