[Eug-lug] usb floppy detection ?

Thanks 4 the response; I tried running  dmesg  with the floppy connected and 
disconnected and the result is the same, pages of data none of which I a 
smart enough to interpret nor understand. the last few lines in each case 
read as follows:
inserting floppy driver for 2.6.3-4mdk,this line repeated 2more times
